Vacation
I have not been on my site lately because of the conferences for a day, then cross country flights, and now I am in New York City on vacation since yesterday. I did not have much of an idea for where to go myself, so I joined a Japanese tour group, and I have been having fun so far. Yesterday, we went to the National Academy of Design for five hours, and our guide showed us a lot of neat art, but we were only allowed to take pictures of certaint art. At lunch, we ate at Ruth's Crisp Steakhouse. I guess it had good food. After that we went to see the Japanese Hill-and-Pond garden for two hours, and that reminded me a lot of home. At the end of the day, we visited the New York Aquarium until 8:00 P.M, and we saw a lot of nice fish, sharks, whales, etc. The bus dropped us off at each of our hotels; I had booked a room at a hotel called the Pierre Hotel. It is really nice, and it was only $1,500. I just called in delivery from a pizza place (called Dominos) because someone told me its dangerous in the city at night.
Today, we visited the Bronx Zoo, and saw a whole bunch of animals. Then, we got to visit the Empire State building. I took some cool pictures from way high up. Right now, we are having lunch at a cyber cafe in time square, so I am using my labtop now. We will be leaving soon, but I just got a new internal battery, so I will use my computor when we are doing something boring on the bus.
I have met some nice friends in our tour group, and we plan to keep in touch once we get back to Japan. One of them, Akusura Saikoubi, even lives in Rikuzentakadai!
I took this picture of my tour group at the National Academy of Design, but it turned out fuzzy. You can still tell what we are doing, though.
