I’m supposed to write a story a story for one of my classes. I’ve started one but I don’t think it’s too good. I really don’t like the title I gave “Blue Jade Stone” we’re supposed to do something new and original. If you can think of a better title let me know. But you can’t think of atitle with out reading some of the story now can you so hear it is. Sorry if you fall asleep whale trying to read it. ^^

    Blue Jade Stone

    Prologue
Steel City is the biggest and richest city in the world. It’s as large as a state, with many museum, banks, and mansions. Millions of rich people live in the city. Lots criminals live in the city as well, but most of the crime takes place some were under ground. Some of the most notorious bands of thieves live in this city. But the band of the thieves called the Shadows are the crafty in the city. There are only three members.

The first and oldest is Edward. He is 15 with short, shaggy brown hair. He’s 5’11 with dark scarlet eyes and he is the leader of the Shadows. He takes care of the escape plan and how much each job is worth. Denise is after Edward going by age. She is all so 15 and is only younger by two months. Her hair is black and long enough to touch her shoulders, but it is always in a pony tale in public. Her eyes are bright green and she’s 5’4. She is in charge of infiltration. Sheena is the youngest and is also 15 but is younger then Edward by 9 months. Her hair is dark blue, almost black and hangs to her hip. She’s 5 feet tall and has violet eyes. She is responsible for the diversion. She says when it is time to brake in and how much time they have to steal the items. They always wear dark colored cloths.

When they were young they where put in an orphanage. There they all met and became good friends, almost instantly. The orphanage was always cold and wet. The food was flavorless, chewy and stuck to their mouths. They didn’t like where they slept or the dirty, old cloths that didn’t fit them well. They wanted to sleep on huge fluffy beds in stead of mats on the floor. So they all decided to leave. It took them five years to form the perfect plan, steal all the food, supplies, and set up a series if diversions. They left on a foggy night with out being seen once and later began stealing for a living.

Three years later they became the most heard of band of thieves in the criminal world. But no one has ever seen their face, heard their names or even their voice. Steel City is almost always foggy at night. In the center of the city there is a pond (the biggest on in the world) and it’s the foggiest there.

“Hey, we’ve got another job,” Edward said as he walked into the house. “I checked the site while I was at the library.”

“Really,” Sheena said coming out of the kitchen with a huge sandwich. “That’s great. Denise guess what, we got a new job!”

Denise came out from the office were she was pulling maps of banks and museums, “great were do we go to meet them?”

Don’t know we’re supposed to send a letter to the address on the site if we want the job. Edward said going in to the kitchen.

“I’m going to type the letter, okay?” Denise said turning toward the back rooms.

Sure,” he said through a mouth full of bread, “just remember not to put our real address on it.”

“Hey, did you find the maps I asked for?” Sheena asked whiles hopping over the couch.

“Yeah.” Then Denis disappeared into the hallway.

“Hey what do you need a map for?” Ed called from the kitchen.

“ just so I know what would be the best distraction for each bank, mansion, or museum,” Sheena said turning the channel on the TV “ see if the place we’re hitting is near the pond I could use dry-ice to make the fog thicker and no one would be able to see us if we went in from the roof top, but if it’s some where dry I could seat something on fire.”

“okay,” Edward said walking out the kitchen and sat down on the couch. “but what if the targets isn’t near the pond but it’s not dry over there ether. Are you going to blow some ones car up or something?”

“well I never thought of something like that,” sheena said looking at Edward “ maybe I’ll try that next time.”

I was joking,” ed began to laugh “ that’s a really bad idea some one could see use rigging the car or some one might be able to tell that the car was rigged to blow up.”

“right, than what are we supposed to do if something like that happens?” Sheena asked.

“we’ll think of something.” ed said taking the remote and changing the channel.
    ***

Three days later Sheena checked the mail. There was a letter in a bright green envelop. The address was in fancy, embroidered, cursive letters with a bright red, wax seal on the back. Sheena read the date on the address and gasped. She began to run home at full speed. The date read three days ago.

Sheena burst in to the house gasping for air. “Ed, Denise… where are you guys!” no one answered. She called again. There was still no answer. “Any body home” she said quietly as she walked slowly into the kitchen. There was a note on the counter. It read:
    Hey,
Went out to get some take out be back in an hour or two. I’ll check
the mail before I come back. I’ll bring you some food back.

    Ed

P.S. Denise went to the library to look at some maps.

“They left the door unlocked” she said as she tore the note apart “Maybe if I go to the mail box fast enough I can catch Ed. The one time I have some thing really important to say no one’s around to hear it.”

    ***
Sheena made it to the mail box just as Ed was leaving. She was running at full speed. “What” Edward said stepping back with fear in his eyes.

“The job, the job” was all she could get out as she tried desperately to catch her breath.

“What about the job” he said as Sheena pulled the letter out of the back pocket of her pants.

“Read the date on it” she said standing up strait, “it got hear three days late.”

“Let’s go get Denise before we open it.” Ed mumbled looking closely at the green envelope “she should be at the library for a long time, so we shouldn’t have to rush.”

The streets were crowded. It seemed like hours before they arrived at the library. The library was full of people. There was a long line of people that stretched from the check out counter to the back shelves. Denise was sitting in the corner with a pile of books.

“Denise we have to go now,” Edward had come from behind her and grabbed her shoulder.

“But I need to check out these books,” Denise said in protest “they could help us with the job.”

“The letter came late,” Sheena piped in “there’s no time we need to go home and open it right away.”

“We can come back to check them out later.” be for she could say a word in protest Ed had grabbed her wrist and began leading her out the library.

They never opened a business letter alone maybe it was because they didn’t like to talk about more than they need or because they had a habit of tearing the letters up and wouldn’t remember to tell the others all the details.

They went home as fast as they could and went into the hall to open the letter. Then they closed all the doors so that no one could see what the letter said. It was in elegant hand writing and they all read it silently read. It said:
    Shadows,
If you will accept this job, please come to the restaurant near Steel City
Park at 10:45pm, three days for the date on the letter. Bring
who ever you see fit. Sit in the booth with a curtain.

    From,
    No one at all

“Great what time is it now,” Denise said while tearing the letter apart “where’s the lighter?”

“It’s about 7:30,” Ed announced walking to his room “ we have a few hours before we need to get ready. I’ll let you know when it’s time to go.”
“The lighter’s in the bathroom,” Sheena said pointing to the door next to her “remember to open the window after your burn it.”

    ***

The restaurant was small. The door was decorated in gold, curly letters with red stars in the corners. It looked like some one worked hard on it and painted it by hand.

“Wow,” Sheena gasped “this is a really fancy place!”

No, it’s not,” Edward said pushing the door open “It’s a diner. The only fancy thing about this place is the door.”

“Yeah, but there is only one booth with a curtain still hanging,” Denise pointed in discuss to a grimy looking booth with a crusty brown curtain at the far end of the diner “it’s the most discussing thing I’ve ever seen.”

That must be the one,” Ed said straitening his black and red wolf mask that only covered his eyes “remember not to say one word, don’t even grown.”

“Right.” Both girls replied in unison.

Every one was wearing a mask today because there was another carnival that night. Sheena had on a black and purple kitten mask that covered her face completely. Denise had on a black and green butterfly mask that covered her face too. They all wore contacts to hide there eyes color.

They all sat down in the booth and what looked like a middle age man in a hyena mask leaned forward and smiled “Ah, you must be the ones that got the letter. "Your all quite young.”

Ed nudged Sheena and she sled a small peace of paper with typed letters that said:

Yes or no questions only, all questions must be work related.

    Thank you

“So it’s strictly business with you,” the man said thought a discussing smile that made Denise’s stomach turn “I like that. For this job I’d like you to steal a necklace from the Steel City museum.” the man paused and studied Ed’s faces carefully. No one said any thing or even blinked. The man went on “the necklace came from Egypt. The pendent has a very rare stone in it. I just want the stone from it you can leave the rest there.” the man paused again and fished around in his pocket. He pulled out a small, wrinkled peace of paper with a picture of the necklace and pointed to the dark blue stone on it “this is a blue jade stone, it was found in a dried up river four years ago and it’s
Worth a lot of money. There is only five in the whole world. It’s the last stone I need for my collection.” The man cleared his throat and looked at them again “this isn’t going to
be a problem… is it?” the man’s smile began to fade as they shook there heads. “That’s great. Oh, and I’ve got a stone to replace the real one with.”

Again the man fished in his pocket this time producing a blue stone identical to the one in the picture and sled it across the table. Sheena, who was wearing gloves picked up the stone and rolled it around in her palm carefully examining it. She stopped, looked up at Ed, and shook her head. Then took the picture and slipped it into her pocket.

“The necklace is on the third floor, first room on the left in the museum near the pond. I would like to have the stone by Monday… or do you have to be in school?” the man stared at the kids as they sat motionless with out response. He was obviously trying to read them.

“It’s in the Egyptian exhibit in a 50ton case. I trust that you will be able to find your own way in, so I won’t hold you here any longer. You will get two thousand dollars each… is that far?” the man looked at them with the same discussing smile.

They all nodded. The dirt from the curtain crumbles in Ed’s hand as he pulled it open and the girls stepped out as they dusted the crusted dirt off their shoulders.

    to be continued

and thats as far as i've gotten.
